Presidential Ramblings

Even though there is snow in the air and on the ground, I can feel spring! The days are getting noticeably longer, I’m getting garage fever and I’m an incurable optimist. Think I’ll go watch the “How To Drive” instruction video for Oregon Raceway Park again. Do you have it memorized too?

What a great Valentine Dinner and club meeting we had. Ann Sampson pulled together a great event, on short notice and Club Carrera never looked or sounded so good! Great food from Tate & Tate, they have never let us down, and forty-two members enjoyed the evening. A lot of behind the scenes work went into making this a great success, thanks to all that helped in the putting on and the clean up.

Wow, what a great Chili cook-off! Forty plus attendees, lots of great food, lots of great people, lots of fun, some new “winners” and some new members. It really is the people that make this club. A big “thank you” to our hosts, Pat and Fred Nielsen. I took the garage tour three times!

The Board decided at the last Board meeting to set some charity guidelines. Everyone has a favorite charity they want to support, they are all deserving, but we have limited funds and want to make the best impact we could in our community. So in keeping with the Porsche car theme, the Board decided to continue to support the COCC Automotive Scholarship program and to once again support sending High School student to the Deschutes County Skid School. Promoting driver safety is a very good thing. This month we are sending twenty-one students from local High Schools to the skid school. Thank you members for making this happen. By your generous support of our club you are also supporting our community. I can’t say “Thank you” enough.

Porsche Parade in Salt Lake City in July, are you going? Expect an email on this topic with all the details in the next couple of days, after I finish this.

Are you doing the snowshoe event this month hosted by the Stouts? It sounds like fun and there will be plenty of snow! Is there a full moon that night? That would be perfect.

Charter Dinner on April 18th at Brasada Ranch will get here fast. Have you sent in your Dinner selections yet? If you had problems with the form, let me know and I can send it to you as a Word attachment in an email. There will be forms available at this months’ Dinner meeting also. Thanks in advance for your silent auction item donations.

After our less than great experience with the first evening dinner, we are moving on to a new time and place. Due to scheduling conflicts at Broken Top we had to move our meeting to the first Tuesday of the month. Our plan is for all to have a great time and we will continue to do what it takes to make it happen for all the membership.

I have been told that three members have ordered a new 911 (991). Congrats to you! I think they will start arriving in May, just in time for our arrive and drive.

Auf Wiedersehen!
