Six members of the High Desert Region attended the BMW Club Track day at Portland International Raceway on July 31st. The unofficial “Renn Gruppe” of the HDR consisted of Cliff Cayer with his yellow turbo, Tim Hagner with his track-prepped 911, Bren Hirschberg with his 914-6 GT, Kevin Neary with his modified Cayman S, Mark Peterson with his Brumos look-alike track car, and of course Mike Simmons in the full-on lime 911 race car.
From left to right, Cliff Cayer, Mike Simmons, Mark Peterson, Bren Hirschberg, Tim Hagner and Kevin Neary.
It was a perfect day in Portland with lots of fun track time and no Porsche crashes! Unfortunately, Cliff Cayer had to retire early with engine problems but is looking forward to returning with an updated and even stronger engine in the future. Kevin Neary spent most of his time “instructing” BMW drivers, which means he got to drive around a newbie in his Cayman S and show them what a real sports car feels like!
If you want to join us next time, we always have room for more fellow HDR members who would like to push the envelope a bit.
