Presidential Rambling – Aug 2014

by | Aug 1, 2014 | Presidential Ramblings | 0 comments

Well, July just flew on by… and we “book ended” it with two great events, along with all sorts of fun in between!
We started with the Redmond 4th of July Parade, organized and coordinated by Larry Johnson.  I believe that this is HDR’s 3rdyear of participation.  Great Porsche turn-out, there were 20 Porsches & 15 Corvettes… just saying.  Thanks Larry!

We wrapped up July with the Baker City Tour week-end, organized and coordinated by Jen & Scott Lauray.  All the right stuff: Porsches, great friends, mountain views, smooth winding roads, beautiful warm sunshine, great food and an outstanding destination!  Thanks Jen & Scott!
We concluded that event on Saturday evening, just outside of Baker City, with a ranch style BBQ, as we enjoyed friends, stories and the beautiful sunset from the ranch house deck.  Doesn’t get much better!

Good communication is always a key, and HDR has several ways of doing so.  We have our website, which is currently being refreshed (will be on line this month).  There’s our monthly Wed evening social.  We also send out an occasional e-mail blast, and then there is the communication among members.

Question to you: How are we doing, and how could we do better?
I know that not all of our members receive the “e-mail blasts”.  Since each “blast” is addressed to a large number of recipients, in some cases they are likely rejected as spam.  Let me know if you are not receiving them (a good check is reminder of the Wed evening social, it is sent out without fail each month).
Tech Session Follow-up: Our June 28th tech session which highlighted the “Auto Care Experts” was a great success!  We promised to bring them back to Porsche of Bend for a Saturday “working” session.  Scheduling for August hasn’t worked out.  We are looking for a Saturday in September (also a very busy month).  Will keep you posted.

And… still seeking an Events Coordinator Volunteer!  As the title indicates this position coordinates activities which are planned by others. Please let me  know if you are interested, it is an exciting and rewarding position!

That’s it for now… I’m looking forward to seeing you throughout the remainder of the driving season, and the rest of the year!
