October 11-12

Back by popular demand! This great tour is headed down the back roads to Chiloquin on Saturday, Oct 11th to the Klamath and Western Railroad/ Train Mountain facility for a look at some other “gear-heads” devoted to a unique hobby. Featuring over 25 miles of track, these train lovers have miniaturized every feature of Railroad life. Plus, you can go for a ride! This weekend is their Fall Colors Gathering so we are sure to see lots of special trains. We have arranged special parking and tours to “see it all”! There is a $15/head fee for this tour.  Here is a link to a YouTube video of the activities.

Following lunch, which you can purchase at the Train Mountain Snack Bar, and tour we will head up the back way to Crater Lake (don’t forget your National Park Entry Pass to save you $20), checking in to the renowned Crater Lake Lodge. After check-in, we will have free time to enjoy the lodge with cocktails in the lobby and dinner (ordered from the menu and billed separately) on a staggered reservation system in the dining room. The following morning after breakfast we will have time to see the lake, hike a bit, and relax for a mid-morning departure. Touring together around Crater Lake with plenty of photo ops, we will take the “scenic back roads” home, arriving back in Bend by about 3 pm with a box lunch ($15each) from Crater Lake on the way.

20 rooms, all lakeside, have been set aside for our group on Oct 11th, $215 and $225.  Make your own reservations by contacting Tim Mahoney at the Crater Lake Lodge at 541-594-2255, ext.3402, 8-5 Tues-Sat. Be sure to mention the “Bend Porsche Club Room Block”. If you need to cancel your reservation you may do so without penalty up to 60 days prior (August 11). Meals –Dinner, Breakfast, and box lunch can be charged at the Lodge.

Join us for the last tour of the season at one of the USA’s most spectacular sights!
