Pete Olson - HDR President
Hi,
Well… We closed out our 2014 HDR driving season with some very fun & exciting October events!
Starting from the top, was the first Saturday of the month “Arrive & Drive”. It was led by the 3 Amigos (Bren, Tim & Mike), fresh off their Treffen visit to Germany, wearing their matching Autobahn 150 MPH shirts! Spirits were high, with 56 Porsches showing up for the mornings drive.
Per tradition, they ended up at my house for a Tate & Tate catered BBQ… Can’t remember the last time I
had 100+ guests over for lunch! My neighbors were equally excited to have the 50+ Porsche car show come to them… Many came out with their cameras to take photos and drool over which ones they liked best (decisions – decisions!)
Then on the 11th & 12th we went on the Train Mountain/Crater Lake Tour. This great event was led by the Bill & Evi Shaw and Bren & Shannon Hirschberg. Well done! Thank you! Read “all about it” on this website in the events section (recent events/photos).
We closed out the month with a Tech Session on Saturday the 25th at German Master Tech in Bend. Tim Morris discussed how to prepare your Porsche for the winter’s hibernation. Tim Hagner organized a presentation around “limited” production” Porsches. HDR members provided 6 Porsches, ranging from a 1957 356 Speedster to a 2007 GT3. In addition to Tim providing lot’s of interesting Porsche background history and information, each of the owners were given an opportunity to tell a bit about their Porsche.
And now, for another “fun story”… Earlier this year I acquired a 1986 Porsche 911 Turbo Look Cab (red of course). Now this Porsche has an interesting history, including being a “show car” for Alpine Car Stereo. A photo shoot for one of the ads came along with the car. So… why not have some fun and replicate the photo shoot? And yes we did! As you can see, enthusiasm does run high when you combine a red Porsche convertible along with 1980’s Rock… What can I say!
And now… a couple of more things.
I am very pleased to announce that Scott Loring has volunteered to be our HDR Event Coordinator! He is already looking forward to the 2015 events. We would love to hear from you regarding your event ideas, and volunteering to help make them happen. I will soon be sending out an e-mail blast with Scott’s contact information.
Our HDR website team has been working diligently for the past several months to create an “award winning” website. We are there, and would like to invite you to start viewing it. The new address is www.highdesertpca.org
Take a look and tell us what you think!
That’s it for now… I am looking forward to seeing you at the November & December social events!
Enjoy your Porsche & Porsche Friends Even More!
