Diego's 7th Annual Spring Fling Car Show - 2015

[soliloquy id="4168"]

On Saturday April 25th Bob and I attended Diego's car show in Redmond.  Our HDR Porsche Club second year attending Diego's started out on the cool and damp side with a couple of quick showers but soon turned into a very nice sunny day.  FORTY ONE Porsches and their drivers earned our HDR Porsche Club the trophy for most cars representing a car club at the show!  Certainly a great turn-out!  Thanks to all of you who made it possible to wrestle the trophy away from last year's trophy winner, the Corvette Club of Central Oregon.

HDR Porsche Club won awards in two categories.  First place in air-cooled went to the Giampaolis for their red '57 356 Speedster and second place went to Bren Hirshberg for his 1970  914-6.

The second category was water cooled.  First place went to Roger Mathus with his 2012 911S model 991.  Second was awarded to Doug Kerkoch with his 2014 Cayman S.  Hearty congrats to all.

Rene Verbrugge from Kendall Porsche showed the new 918 Porsche Spyder which was a huge hit with show attendees.  A great big thank you to Rene, for his time and ability to wow all who were mezmorized by this beautiful Porsche.  Thanks also to Kendall Porsche of Bend for allowing us to share the car with everyone.

When the awards ceremony was over eleven of us took a nice back road “Arrive and Drive” to Aspen Lake's Golf Course where we were offered parking on the grass.  We then headed inside for an early dinner in the loft at The Lodge @ Aspen Lakes. Thanks to Aspen Lakes for the hospitality and allowing our group to park on the grass!

Bob and I want to thank Tim Hagner for his help with event parking and also leading our back road drive after the show.  Also a thank you goes out to Mark McConnell for his event help and leading the early morning convoy to the car show.  Everyone who attended is responsible for making the HDR Porsche Club showing at Diego's very successful indeed!  Our HDR Porsche Club was able to fill up all 41 spots we were given for the show on both sides of one block of  6th Street in downtown Redmond.  What an amazing feat!  We should be very proud of our HDR Porsche Club showing.

Thanks and Happy Motoring
