15th Year Anniversary Charter Dinner

[soliloquy id="4101"]

Saturday evening April 11th was a “very special” evening, as over 100 High Desert Region Porsche Club members gathered at the Awbrey Glen Country Club to commemorate our 15th year anniversary.

The anniversary banners were in place, members were greeted and guided to the “special Porsche parking” on the driving range grass.  Once inside the guests were again pleasantly greeted, given a name card to place on the dining table of their choice, a drink ticket along with a door prize ticket.

There was an abundance of appetizers, and the evening socializing began.  Photo scrap books from the early years were on display, and a continuous slide slow depicting the more recent years ran through the evening.  Special thanks to our Historian Roger Sanders!

Each couple donated a “stuffed animal”, which was displayed on the entry way table.  These were all given to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Department, who in turn provide them to traumatized children during an encounter.  We were able to donate over 50 stuffed animals.

A Deschutes County Sheriffs representative accepted them on behalf of the department.  He also provided information regarding how they are distributed & how they benefit dozens of Bend area children.

We recognized the “founding members” who were in attendance, along with past Presidents.  We also took the opportunity to recognize Bill Shaw, an original member, who spent “many” years as editor & webmaster.  Bill was responsible for taking our Downshift publication into the electronic world.

Linda Bein was also recognized for her “years” of contribution as the HDR President and the Zone 6 Representative.  As she always said at the end of her Presidential articles: “may we drive forever…”

A “show of hands” identified all who have volunteered over the past 15 years to make the High Desert Region Porsche Club so vibrant and fun!  Remember, the PCA motto “fueled by volunteers”.

The wonderful dinner was topped off by a slice of a special cake decorated with High Desert Region PCA Logo atop the frosting.

Thank you’s to Porsche of Bend, for the appetizers and drink tickets, German Master Tech & European Car Care for donating door prize items!

A special thank you to Gayle McConnell, Viki McConnell, Suzi Townes, Hete Sugnet & Joanne Abbott for planning, organizing & managing this special event!  Job well done!

So there you are…  15 fun packed years, enjoyed by very special people enjoying friendship and their very special Porsches!
