Pete Olson - High Desert Region President

Hi!

Everyone is busy “planning” their summer activities, and quite likely several Porsche activities are finding their way into your busy calendar.

We have welcomed lot’s of new members to the High Desert Region Porsche Club over the past year, and we “encourage all” of our members to participate and get involved in planned activities for the year.

We would also love to hear from you regarding new event ideas, and willingness to volunteer in making our HDR events even more exciting!  Contact our Event Coordinator, Event Coordinator, Scott Loring at srloring@bendcable.com with your ideas and willingness to volunteer.

Here’s a “quick recap” of May…

Saturday May 2nd dawned clear & bright for a spirited Arrive & Drive, which was led by Mark McConnell & Bob Townes. Thanks guys! They took us up, down & around back roads “unknown to many”.  The final destination was the Erickson Aircraft Collection at the Madras Airport… Spectacular!

Saturday May 9th, yet another beautiful morning, found a group of 25 HDR “Adopt-A-Road volunteers cleaning our designated section of Oregon Hwy 20 near Fryrear road.  Thank You!  And… a “big Thank You” to Scott & Kathy Loring for organizing & heading up this effort.  It also seems that a few $1.00 bills were found along the way!

Thursday May 14th was the day that Kendall Porsche of Bend sponsored the “Hooked on Driving” event at Portland International Raceway.  12 cars from our club (all Porsches I assume) attended the event.  All reports are that it was absolutely “fantastic”!  Thanks Kendall Porsche of Bend!   Hot Lap at PIR Video

Porsches on the High Desert

This year we are holding an “expanded” Porsche show at the Deschutes County Historic Museum…  It’s “Porsches on the High Desert”.

However… it’s “more” than just a fun Porsche Car Show!

  • Fri evening June 12th (reception at Club Carrera)
  • Sat morning June 13th (show & shine)
  • Sat afternoon June 13th (drive to Mt Bachelor for “Funkana” )

Don’t know what a “Funkana” is ? Just register & find out!

  • Sun morning June 14th (mini Arrive & Drive with out of town guests)

It’s easy to register!  Just click on this link ( Form) to access the registration form,  print it & send it in.

This is an opportunity to:

  • Contribute to The Deschutes County Historical Museum (a portion of the registration fee goes to them)
  • Meet Porsche owners from outside of our area
  • Have a great time with your Porsche friends

We even have a “work in progress” category so you can’t say your Porsche is not quite ready!

Deadline for registration is June 8th

In closing… many of our HDR members attended the Tom Anderson Memorial Service on May 20th.  We had a group of Porsches, “lights on” drive, up the Cascade Lakes Hwy, with return to Club Carrera for a brief reception.  Our very best goes out to the Anderson Family.

Enjoy your Porsche & Porsche Friends Even More!
