------------Pete Olson - High Desert Region President
Hi!
Greetings from the 60th Annual Porsche Parade at French Lick, Indiana!
I’ll be providing a story of the Parade & travel adventure upon my return to Bend.
However, I would like to share a couple of exciting Parade items:
- David & Maureen Vadman took 1st place in Preservation Class with their 1985 Guards Red 968 Cab! And this was after the road trip from Bend, including braving the heavy rains of Tropical Storm Bill.
Maureen & David Vadman
- Our Web Master/Editor (Webitor) Jim Boyd took our brand new website, right out of the starting box to a national 2nd place win in the Class II group (100 – 199 member region). A “huge” thank you to Jim and all who contributed to our successful website!
Oh Yes… June in Bend offered up plenty of warm sunny days this year, and the High Desert Region Porsche Club took great advantage of them… Let me count the ways…
Saturday June 5th was another perfect Bend summer day, Steve and Debbie Beer led us on a spectacular Arrive & Drive on a very scenic drive around the Cascade Loop. It was an absolutely perfect time, ending up in Bend for Pizza & beer. Thanks Steve & Debbie for making this a wonderful day!

Porsches on the High Desert
Friday & Saturday June 12th & 13th we enjoyed the first annual Porsches on the High Desert! Another perfect Bend summer day! Friday evening we gathered at Club Carrera for dinner and a social evening. Saturday dawned clear and bright as we gathered out impeccably detailed Porsches on the lawn at the Deschutes County Historic Museum.
This was followed by a “spirited” drive up the Cascade Lakes Highway to the Mt Bachelor parking lot for competition in an entertaining Funkana! Thanks Bren & Tim for organizing & hosting this fun event!
And then… Early Monday morning, June 15th, with the 911 all loaded and ready to go, I headed off to French Lick, Indiana. Meeting Porsche friends in Denver, 6 Porsches headed east, with our sights set on the 60th Annual Porsche Parade!
Each Porsche Parade reminds me of two things:
- There are “lots” of Porsche Friends… It’s great fun to reconnect with existing ones and meet new ones!
- Our Porsche Club of America is “Fueled by Volunteers”!
I look forward to being back home in Bend for our Wed evening social on the 15th, and our exciting weekend adventure on the Ocean at Yachats on the 17th & 18th!
Enjoy your Porsche & Porsche Friends Even More!
