Our High Desert Region of PCA contributes to two very worthy charitable causes. One contribution is the Bend High School driver training skid school. The other is the Central Oregon Community College Foundation for the school’s automotive department.
Our region was invited to the Foundation’s annual scholarship luncheon in recognition for our contribution, along with several dozen other local individuals and businesses. The Foundation is celebrating 60 years of providing scholarships. The scholarship recipients and the automotive department benefit greatly from and need continued local Central Oregon financial support.
15 scholarship recipients did attend the luncheon and three gave heart felt speeches about the significant impact that the financial support is making on their lives and future careers.
Our region’s contribution comes mainly from the silent auction that we hold at our annual Charter Dinner. So, be sure to attend this year’s Charter dinner, contribute great silent auction items and even be a high bidder.
Additionally, if you’re looking for an extremely effective local charity, you should consider setting up a scholarship through the Central Oregon Community College Foundation. http://www.cocc.edu/foundation/
Helping a financially struggling and dedicated local student with their college career is an extremely rewarding experience.
