Pete Olson - High Desert Region PCA President
What??? It’s already August… But not to complain, 2015 has been fantastic year! In looking back at all the High Desert Region Porsche Club events for the year, each and every one of them was an outstanding and fun adventure.
I was traveling home from the 2015 Porsche Parade in French Lick, Indiana (in a Porsche of Course) during the first week of July, so missed out on the July 4th Arrive & Drive. This took the place of the annual participation in the Redmond 4th of July Parade. Good news for the High Desert Corvette Club, we provided them the opportunity to outnumber Porsches in the parade this year!
The ever popular 3rd Wednesday evening social at Club Carrera continues to attract 50+ attendees. And no wonder, the people and the food are just great! Take the opportunity to attend …
July is a month filled with family activities, consequently there were fewer participants attending the Yachats 2015 Tour the week-end of July 17th– 19th than we had in 2013. However, we had a “great group”, great weather and a wonderful time exploring Yachats and the beautiful Pacific Coast! (See Scott Loring’s tale of this adventure)
Saturday July 25th was the Ladies Tech Session at German Master Tech. We celebrated Kim Morris’s birthday. The ladies sipped Tea & Mimosa’s, and talked about things such as what to do/not do when the check engine light comes on. Meantime, the men were out in the parking lot kicking tires and dinning on Coffee & Donuts!
We held the “New” Members dinner on Wed evening, July 29th at Chan’s Chinese Restaurant. This gave the new members, from the past year, an opportunity to socialize and get to know the HDR Board Members and their spouses. We had a great dinner and a fun time. Note: We also recognize new members at each Wed evening social, and welcome them to our club. (Thanks! Mark McConnell)
I’m looking forward to attending the Monterey Car Week starting on August 10th. This will also be the 2nd year for the Porsche Werks Reunion being held in Carmel Valley on the 14th. 700 Porsches are expected to be registered for the Concour, with another 300 in the Porsche Corral. I have volunteered to assist with concour judging again this year (PCA fueled by volunteers). It’s a great opportunity to meet and get to know more & more Porsche friends.
Oh, and please take a look at the 2015 French Lick Porsche Parade story… 6,000 miles 13 states in 23 days, in a “Porsche of Course”.
Enjoy your Porsche & Porsche Friends Even More!
