Presidential Ramblings – March 2016

by | Mar 1, 2016 | Presidential Ramblings

Ahh… It’s March!

Got Spring fever?  Cabin fever?  But wait… there is a cure!

Just take your Porsche off the battery tender, find a road “relatively” free of cinders and go for an invigorating drive!  Its amazing how much better you will feel.

February was an “eventful” month!  Here is a brief summary of what we were up to…

Saturday Feb 6th We started off with a “beautiful” High Desert winter morning, and then were treated to “wonderful” hospitality at Cars & Coffee by Bren & Shannon at the Hirschberg ranch. Plenty of parking, & we even were able to get our Porsche SUVs off the pavement on onto the ranches’ grassy field.

The display & presentation of several club members “in-work” Porsches in Bren’s shop was fantastic!  Thanks to all who participated!  “Read all about it” in the story which is part of this newsletter.

Wednesday evening Feb 17th during our monthly HDR social, we presented a $3,600 check to Skid School – Winter Driving Training for Bend – La Pine High School Students.  This once again provides funding for 40 students to take the training class.  We even we treated to thank you’s from 2 of the students who benefitted from the 2015 training classes.

Starting them young!  Doug & Diane Kerkoch shared a photo of their 11 month old grandson, Kellan at the wheel of his very own Porsche.  You will note that he has already mastered the correct hands on the wheel positions!

Saturday evening Feb 27th we closed out the month with our annual Chili Cook-off, organized by Lisa Sarmiento. Thanks Lisa! A great assortment of bubbling crock pots full of chili, plus all the salads, corn breads & deserts you could ever hope for!  “Read all about it” in the story which is part of this newsletter.

Arrive & Drives - Bren Hirschberg has handed over the reins to one of our new members, Bob Stark.  A huge “Thank You” to Bren for his “outstanding” management of these events over the past “many” years!  We welcome Bob for stepping up to the challenge. Bob will be in contact with tour leaders throughout the year.  And… if you have any questions you can reach him at 541-388-5075.  Note: Our first Arrive & Drive is scheduled for Saturday May 7th.

Now’s a great time to check out the HDR 2016 activity calendar, located on our website. Start planning which events you would like to attend thru out the year…

Wishing you “great success” as we look forward to making
