Take a deep breath & “hang on”… it’s summer on The High Desert!

Saturday June 4th…  Once again we kicked off the month with our “ever popular” Arrive & Drive, over 30 Porsches headed out for an early morning drive, while enjoying the company of many Porsche Friends.  The drives never disappoint, this time we headed out on the back roads “up north” with a rest stop at The Round Butte Overlook Park.  Then back to Bend to dine on Mexican cuisine…

Saturday June 11th… Show & Shine (and yes we did!) We had a great time on the lawn of the Deschutes Historical Center, entertaining ourselves and the local citizenry with a beautiful array of Porsches.  Many of you went home with “medals of honor” as your Porsche was recognized by the people’s choice voting!

We were pleased to donate $500.00 to the Deschutes Historical Center for their kindness in allowing us to use their beautiful facility

Meanwhile, on June 18th – 25th, while being back at the Jay Peak Ski Resort in Vermont for the 61stAnnual Porsche Parade, I missed adventures of the Hood River Orchard Tour, which I am told was very enjoyable!

Now with Vermont being the Green Mountain State, there were lots of trees and “mountains” (not quite the mountains we know!).

This was the first Parade where I didn’t have a Porsche on site, not quite the same!  But hey, I found some entertaining gravel back roads where I could exercise the rental rav4, roads where Porsches “fear” to tread (except perhaps Cayennes & Macans!)

Still there was still lots to do, enjoying the renew old friendships, making new friends & volunteering to assist for several activities (Concour, Autocross, delivering water & ice, etc…)

2015 Public Service Award…  Each year, at the Porsche Parade, National PCA recognizes the regions that have conducted the most outstanding “charity or community service” event or events during the year. The winning regions demonstrate the “highest standards” in meeting the objectives and the ideals of PCA in providing service and support to charities and the community. Due to the importance of public service to the club, and the number of PCA regions involved in public service, multiple awards are presented (first, second, and third place and honorable mentions). Recipients receive a trophy and cash award.

The High Desert Region had the honor of receiving “First Place”!   We were presented with a trophy and a $1500 cash award… Congratulations!    My sincere thank you to “all” HDR members who volunteered their time, expertise & energy to make this special award a reality!

So… as we continue to move along through 2016, I “challenge” you to fit in as many 2016 High Desert Region Porsche Club events as you can find time for…  Make some memories! The best way to keep up to date with our activities is to visit our website at www.highdesertpca.org  Click on events, and you will be amazed by all of the things that have been planned.

And for those of you who like to “plan ahead”…  The 2017 62nd Annual Porsche Parade will be held in Spokane, WA (July 9th – 15th).  An easy drive from Bend!

And in closing…  you likely have been hearing about the new 718 Boxster.  So, here is your “opportunity” to view & test drive it!

  • Friday July 8th @ 7:00 PM (Club Carrera) Unveiling!
  • Saturday July 9th @ 11:00 AM – 4 PM (Bend Athletic Club) Test Drives!

Please RSVP to tressashuttleworth@kendallauto.com for Friday evening, where you will have the opportunity to sign up for the Saturday test drive.

Wishing you “great success” as we look forward to making

                    “2016 Our Best Year Ever!”

Enjoy your Porsche & Porsche Friends Even More!
