Pete Olson - High Desert Region PCA President

Hi!

Each month of 2016 has provided us with wonderful memories…  People, Porsches & Places…  Owning & enjoying a Porsche opens up so many opportunities!  I truly believe that we have made 2016 our best year ever!

While you were out cruising on the September 10th Arrive & Drive, I had motored off to 2016 PCA Treffen at Squaw Valley Resort (Lake Tahoe).  I can report that it was one of the most spectacular National events which I have attended.  The scenery, organization, old & new friendships were over the top!

Read all about it in my Treffen story in this months Downshift!

Journey to Joseph – Sep 17th weekend

This fun adventure was led by Rob & Karon Kutz…  Read all about it in this month’s Downshift!

Porsches of the High Desert/Oregon Festival of Cars – Sep 24th weekend

Jerry Kolb headed up the Porsche Club portion of this spectacular event!

Looking ahead… Now is the time to begin planning for 2017…  although next year may seem far, far away, it’s not!

I mentioned at our last Wednesday evening social event that we have the following HDR Leadership positions looking to be filled.  The continued success and vibrancy of our club relies on the time & efforts of our dedicated volunteers!

Here is a summary of the positions which are “currently open” for 2017:

  • Secretary
  • Event Chairperson
  • Web Master
  • Editor (webmaster & editor are currently combined as a “webitor”)

I will be sending out an e-mail blast to our membership this coming week,  providing descriptions of each of these positions.  If you are interested, I will put you in touch with the appropriate person(s). I can be reached @ 425-269-5470. Also, note that each of the “current” leadership volunteers will work “closely” with you to ensure a smooth transition.

Please consider volunteering, and also encourage other club members who you feel may be interested in becoming part of our leadership team!

Remember, the National PCA moto is “fueled by volunteers”

Time is of the essence!  We will be holding our 2016 Annual Meeting & 2017 Planning Session at 9:00 AM Saturday morning, November 12th at Club Carrera, here is what we will cover during that meeting:

  • 2016 review, along with the club’s financial report
  • Voting on 2017 Leadership Team (you could be on that ballot)
  • Ideas, schedules & volunteers for 2017 HDR events

This is the perfect time for all of our members to become “active” participants in making 2017 “even better” than all the enjoyment which we have experienced in 2016!

And in closing… It’s always appreciated to receive “thank you” notes.  Here is a very special one from the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, in sincere appreciation for the stuffed animals which we collected & donated

Thank you so much, to all our HDR members who participated in this worthwhile endeavor!  Pete

Wishing you “great success” as we are making

                    “2016 Our Best Year Ever!”

Enjoy your Porsche & Porsche Friends Even More!                                             Pete
