June was a wonderful month of numerous adventures, each creating valuable memories to be cherished for years to come!
I’d like to start out by sharing a bit about the 59th Porsche Parade which was held in Monterey, CA (June 15th – 21st). It was my 3rd Porsche Parade, and each one is the same, but different. The geographic location and venue create a “unique” atmosphere for each. This was the largest in history, with over 1250 Porsches registered.

Big Sur Tour at Ragged Point |
There were 9 Porsches from the High Desert Region, and I met lot’s of friends from my days with the Pacific Northwest Region in Seattle. This gathering of every imaginable Porsche, and the lasting friendships developed, just makes me want to go back for more.

Hans Peter Porsche |
This is the second year that I was fortunate enough to have my photo taken with Hans Peter Porsche, a true gentleman. He was on the drive with us through Big Sur to have lunch above the Pacific Ocean, at Ragged Point. It was an absolutely beautiful day, with brilliant blue ocean views as we wound our way along the Pacific Coast Highway. It was a highlight of the week which I will never forget!
Meanwhile, back in Bend the fun continued… The “surprise” at the Wednesday evening (June 18th) social was the premier presentation of the 2015 911 Targa! The roof styling reflects the original Targa’s, and the roof operating mechanism is incredible…
PCA is all about friendships and hospitality… and here’s a great example: The Mt. Shasta Region Porsche Club arrived in Bend on Saturday the 14th, with 10 cars in the caravan. Their club enjoyed meeting up with us, and seeing the cars at Porsche of Bend, while being treated to beverages and appetizers from Tate & Tate.
To a person, they commented on what a great place Carrera Club is for meetings and they were impressed by the size and the scope of our HDR activities. The next morning they headed out to enjoy some our favorite Cascade Lakes highways, on their way to lodging at the Steamboat Inn on the Umpqua River. Thanks to Steve Beer for coordinating this event!
The third annual Porsche “Time 2 Shine” (June 21st) was a success on the beautiful grounds of the Deschutes Historical Museum, with over 20 Porsches on display. Once again HDR will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Museum. Thanks to Scott Lauray for heading up the organizational efforts!
Tech session @ Porsche of Bend. Over 40 HDR members were in attendance (June 28th) to meet the “wizards” who know how to make your Porsche sparkle. We learned about, paint-less dent removal, rock chip repair, interior refurbishing, bent/scraped wheel repair, and complete detailing. With all of this talent at our disposal, no need to worry about keeping your Porsche looking like new!
Oh… and don’t forget to bring your Porsche to drive in the Redmond 4th of July Parade!
That’s it for now… I’m looking forward to seeing you throughout the driving season, and the rest of the year!
