Presidential Ramblings – March 2015

by | Feb 27, 2015 | Presidential Ramblings

Hi…

DSCN0829RWe are about to celebrate the High Desert Region Porsche Clubs 15th Year Anniversary!  The “official” date of the Charter was April 29th, 2000.  And… we are celebrating this occasion with a Charter Dinner at the Awbrey Glen Country Club on April 11th , 2015.

photo 1RI was fortunate to have Mike Simmons share with me, a comprehensive package of historical HDR information (membership rosters, Downshift, etc…) These tell the story of a “very vibrant” High Desert Region Porsche Club over the last 15 years!

The very first roster in that package is dated July 1, 2001 and lists 51 prime members, & 39 affiliates (90 total).  We closed out 2104 with 198 prime members, & 142 affiliates (340 total).  An admirable increase, reflecting the great Porsche experiences and volunteer efforts over those past 15 years!

Ken Mays & Jim Weaver COCC Executive Director

We were pleased to have some special guests, from Central Oregon Community College, at our HDR Social @ Carrera Club on February 18th… they were Jim Weaver (Executive Director COCC) and Ken Mays (Automotive Instructor).

We were able to present them with a check for $3,600.00, made possible by the efforts & generosity of our HDR Club members at our Dec 2014 Holiday Party “silent auction” and “raffle”.

2015 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the High Desert Region Porsche Club, however we still have room for a “few” more events.

If you have some event ideas, please contact our Event Coordinator, Scott Loring at srloring@bendcable.com

Also, let Scott know if you would be willing to help plan and coordinate an activity.  We encourage you to “just do it”, even if you haven’t done one before… many of our seasoned veterans are there to give you a helping hand.

Be sure to spend some time browsing “our” HDR website, it’s great fun!  Check the events calendar so that you don’t miss out on the events which you would like to attend.

And then… take the time to create “your” story & photo contributions, making our website even more fun & exciting.  Contact our Editor, Jim Boyd editor@www.highdesertpca.org

We look forward to hearing from you!

Enjoy your Porsche & Porsche Friends Even More!
