Hang on! August was just a blur, as the days just flew by… but I must say what a great blur! I hope it was the same for you!

August HDR activities were launched on Saturday the 1st with the monthly Arrive & Drive over Central Oregon’s “roads less traveled”. The route was planned and led by Hack Heyward, we had nearly 40 Porsches appear at the usual Cascade Shopping Center meeting point, & divided the Porsches into 3 “easily” manageable groups. Thanks Hack!
The monthly Arrive & Drives are a “great way” to learn more about Central Oregon, taking you to places which you would not likely discover on your own. Plus, you get to do this in your Porsche, with a group of fun loving and friendly people! And… you get to meet for lunch at the end of the drive.
Then on the 6th, the Zone 6 Grand Tour came to Bend. Bren Hirschberg led a group of High Desert Region Porsches over to John Day to accept the “hand-off” of the group from the Silver Sage Region (Boise). I’m told that they had lunch in John Day at the Squeeze-In.
The following morning, Porsche of Bend graciously hosted a “fantastic” Tate & Tate breakfast, before the group of Porsches headed up the Cascade Lakes Hwy on the way to Oakridge. There were two groups, each led by a White Cayman S (Bren Hirschberg & Steve Beer)
We had 47 Porsches gathered in the Oakridge Ray’s Food Store parking lot, quite a sight to see! Cascade Region (Medford) took the “hand-off” and led the group to an overnight in Florence, then on to the closing ceremonies at the Wilsonville World of Speed.
Tim Hagner did an outstanding job of documenting (photos & stories) of the entire Zone 6 Grand Tour. You can enjoy his stories on the Zone 6 PCA website. How do you get to this website you ask? Easy, just go to our HDR website & click on the Zone 6 logo… you’re in!
I headed to California on the 9th for the August 10th - 16th Monterey Car Week. It was an adventure in automotive events, happening in beautiful settings, each one special in their own way! There were cars of all makes, vintages and price ranges scattered throughout Monterey & the Carmel Valley. Here are a few photos.
Porsche Werks was held on Friday of that week. It was the second annual Porsche Werks event, and took place at the Rancho Canada golf course on Carmel Valley Road. 600 + Porsches of all models and colors were registered to be judged. Another 500+ were parked in the Porsche Corral, and general parking areas. A truly awesome event!
And, of course, all of this Porsche activity is “Fueled by Volunteers”! I enjoyed working with the hospitality team, as we greeted the arriving Porsche drivers, providing them with goodie bags, bottled water, and a friendly smile!
Back home again in Bend, there was the monthly HDR social at Club Carrera. Another very enjoyable evening with friends!
Just a reminder, the September Arrive & Drive has been “moved” to Saturday the 12th, to avoid conflict with the Labor Day Week-end.
However, if you are in need of a Porsche driving “fix” on the Labor Day week-end, you can join the September 5th Sodbusters “Hops” Farm Adventure. Check our HDR website, and RSVP by September 2nd.
Enjoy your Porsche & Porsche Friends Even More!
