119 members attended the annual Holiday Dinner & Silent Auction held at the Bend Golf and Country Club on December 6th. 2015.  This marks the second year in a row that we selected the Bend Golf and Country Club as the venue and this year the larger space contributed to the overall great success of the club’s best attended event.  Sue Hagner and her team planned, organized and managed the event, and the results were obvious to all—it was a well-organized event to be proud of!  Thanks, Sue.  And thanks also to Porsche of Bend for providing the hors d-oeuvres, drink tickets, and dessert.

The Silent Auction fundraising results were also something to be proud of.  The 2015 fundraising goal was met and final details will be forthcoming.  Planning and organizing the Silent Auction this year was done by Suzi Townes and the “Three Amigos,” aka Bren Hirschberg, Mike Simmons, and Tim Hagner, who also coordinated the silent auction items donated by members.  A second team, made up of Andi and Hack Heyward, Rick Clawson, Bob Stark, Pamela Robinson, Pete Olson, and Judy Luse, solicited the silent auction items donated by members of the Central Oregon business community.

The annual Holiday Dinner & Silent Auction is the occasion where we recognize members who have donated time and talent during the year.  Both our club and our community are better for their efforts.  This year the awards ceremony began with recognition of Tour Leaders for the four tours organized by club members.  Hack Heyward presented Tour Leader Awards to Greg & Polly Snyder as well as to Joe Mansfield & Lisa McCarthy for the 2015 Oregon Covered Bridge Tour. Hack also presented a Tour Leader Award to Pete Olson for the 2015 Yachats Tour.  Pete then presented a Tour Leader Award to Curt Graeber for the 2015 Sodbuster Hops Farm Adventure. We wrapped up the Tour Leader Awards section with Mike Simmons presenting to Bren Hirschberg and Tim Hagner for the Rennsport V at Laguna Seca tour, as shown here:

Proving once again that “it not just the cars, it’s the people,” the next section began with Bren Hirschberg making the “New Member of the Year” presentation to Don Pratten, shown here:

Pete Olson then presented Jerry Kolb with the “2015 Most Enthusiastic Member” perpetual award, as shown here:

Pete continued with the presentation to Porsche of Bend for “2015 Sponsor of Year”.  Rene Verbrugge is shown accepting the award as Porsche of Bend’s representative.

Certainly the most meaningful award of the night was the “2015 Community Service Award”, which went to Tracy Stout.  After heartfelt remarks by Scott Loring, he is shown here presenting the award to Tracy while Hack Heyward looks on:

On a lighter note, next up was the OMG (Broken Piston) Award, which is awarded for keeping humor alive and well in the club.  For 2015, this award went to Lisa Sarmiento, aka the Tumalo Terror, and was presented by Hack Heyward in lieu of Ken McCumber, who couldn’t be present.

Pete Olson closed out the awards ceremony with the “2015 Presidents Award” for exceptional service to the club.  This was awarded to Scott Loring by Pete, as shown here:

Thanks to everyone who attended and for making our 2015 Holiday Dinner & Silent Auction a very special and memorable night.
