The HDRPCA held its annual Arrive and Shine on June 11th at the Deschutes Historical Museum in downtown Bend.  The weather was cool, but fortunately we had no precipitation to splash our spotless Porsches!

[soliloquy id="5580"]

We had a good turnout of 23 cars that competed in 7 classes that included 911s, Caymans and Boxsters, Cayennes and Macans as well as “works in progress”.  The overall “People’s Choice” Best in Show award received the Tom Anderson Perpetual Trophy.  Next time you see Paul Valerga, congratulate him on the marvelous restoration job with his winning sparkling white 356 Cabriolet!  There were other 1st place and Runner-Up winners who picked up ribbons with metals attached so lots of happy campers. All of the voting was cast by our members and the public at large who visited the show. This voting made for a low key and non-threatening judging environment which allowed our members plenty of time to interact with the visitors.

This arrive and shine format, adorned with coffee and doughnuts, was primarily to show our cars to Porsche aficionados while performing a community service as 100% of the entry fees went to the museum.  This was the 3rd straight year that our club contributed $500 to this worthy Bend landmark.  The museum appreciated our donation and we were happy to have a grassy meeting place for our occasion. There is plenty of room for more cars at this venue and we hope to see the number of entries and variety of models grows for the 2017 Arrive and Shine.

President Pete even brought his Porsche tractor to the show…and it was Runner-Up in the overall voting!
